The Super Bowl 50 Host Committee, E2k and SAP turned to Britelite to design and develop the most technologically advanced fan experience in Super Bowl history. Dubbed the “Feature Activation”, Britelite designed and developed motion-capture interactive games, curated design and content for a 50′ fan wall, and provided the comprehensive back-end foundation for Super Bowl 50’s Fan Energy Zone.
MY ROLE
For this project, I was responsible for the hardware needed to run both of the custom 7-player Kinect games we created for this 1 week event. Each of the custom games were designed to run on a their own single computers each outputting to 7 portrait displays. But with Kinect only supporting 2 devices per single computer, I created a ‘Kinect network forwarder’ which forwarded the needed data from each camera to the main system running the game.
I also created a custom Touchdesigner playback system for the 50′ LED wall, which displayed player scores from the multiplayer games as well as live video streams and other premade content.
THE RESULT
During the 9 day event we hosted 17,000+ users from 7 countries and 34 US states. Our fan activations were featured on national broadcasts and publication such as Forbes. The Fan Energy Zone was regarded as the most technologically advanced football experience in the history of the Super Bowl.
